Advice and opinions for politicians responsible for policy-making

As a result of increased mobility and of the variety of communication channels, human interactions are becoming richer and more interesting, although the risks of something going wrong in the process are increasing. Given that the purpose of the law is to provide a framework for management of interpersonal relations and business relations, in recent years we have seen an exponential increase in the number of new laws, designed to cover a growing number of risks.  The initiated even observe that the current legislation has become an inextricable muddle, to the extent that it is sometimes inconsistent, and that there is an urgent need for fundamental reform. The High Council of Justice will continue to urge political leaders to take on this task, which is admittedly difficult but necessary nonetheless.

No one will call into question the fact that our contemporary society has changed a great deal in many aspects.  Nowadays, the judicial system in general and the administration of justice in particular are expected to act swiftly and to engage in good communication. Although the judicial system was not originally designed to operate in such a way, critical citizens expect it to implement this and, even more importantly, to do so properly. Concerning this point, a clear and irreversible pattern of development, supported by the High Council of Justice, has emerged in our judicial system, resulting in an ongoing process.  The High Council of Justice acts by drawing lessons from citizens’ complaints, by conducting audits, by formulating opinions and by selecting and presenting the most capable judges.  A strong government is, however, also necessary to build on and consolidate this pattern of development.

You can rely on the fact that every day, the High Council of Justice, in conjunction with judges, the staff of the judicial system and all involved in justice, makes and will make every effort to continue to optimise the latter, in the interests of a fair society.
